How To Make Great Games – Actions to take from the “Game Outcomes Project” and game postmortemsBy: Malte Skarupke – AI Programmer
In 2014, the Game Outcomes Project surveyed game developers to learn what successful teams do and what unsuccessful teams do. Using the results of the survey you can predict the success of a team’s game from specific things that a team either does or doesn’t do. Unfortunately most game developers are either unfamiliar with the Game Outcomes Project, or refer to it as the “crunch study”. And while it is true that the Game Outcomes Project showed us that crunch doesn’t work, there are more lessons to be learned from its data. This talk is about those lessons: What matters in game development, and what doesn’t really make a difference? It will also bring up specific advice from game postmortems that show how successful teams have implemented the values promoted by the Game Outcomes Project.
If you’re focused on leveling up your skills, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Space is limited and attendance is by invitation only. Register here to express your interest. If selected, you will receive a confirmation email with event details.
