Play NYC

Recap: Play NYC 2021

We came. We saw. We PLAYED! Play NYC 2021 is in the books. It was a joy to once again unite everyone through our shared love of games on August 7th and 8th.

Games have been an important way for so many to stay connected, unwind, and even escape since the beginning of the pandemic. But there’s nothing quite like playing games together in person. Thank you so much to all the fans, developers, and sponsors who joined us in making it such a special weekend. Get caught up on the highlights from this year’s show below.

THE GAMES

We featured 65 games and interactive experiences this year. This included creators from many of New York’s own indie and larger studios plus folks from across the country. The show floor was alive with games, including PC, console, mobile, AR, VR, and even tabletop!

THE STREAMS

We streamed over 10 hours of live content from our stage throughout the weekend. This included live gameplay, tournaments, developer interviews, hilarious competitions, and more.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

  • $25,000 was awarded to our Graffiti Games developers from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • $3,000+ was raised for children’s cancer research via The St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
  • 25% of the show floor was sponsored by other companies to allow indie creators to be there

A SAFE RETURN TO PLAYING TOGETHER

Safety and comfort were our biggest priority in bringing Play NYC 2021 back in person. Thank you to everyone for respecting the protocols we put into place (i.e. vaccination/mask requirement, COVID screening, show floor adjustments) to ensure the safest and most comfortable convention possible during the pandemic.

OUR 2021 SPONSORS
We wanted to say one final thank you to all of our sponsors for supporting Play NYC and our community this year. Without you, this convention would not have been possible.

We hope to see you again for Play NYC in 2022. Keep an eye on play-nyc.com as we add more highlights from this year and announce plans for next year in the months ahead.
